Ecologist
The successful candidate will be a self-motivated team player and have experience with ecologically based resource management. The individual will have strong organizational, technical, management, and communication skills. Preference will be given to those capable of managing projects, managing client requirements, delivering programs, and developing business opportunities for GDC.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

· graduate or post-graduate degree in natural sciences with eligibility for professional registration;

· minimum of five years experience in providing innovative solutions to resource management challenges;

· excellent understanding of strategic, tactical and operational levels of forestry, mining and/or upstream oilfield planning and program delivery;

· experience in proposal writing, field data collection (soil, vegetation, mensuration, wildlife), data analysis, impact assessment, model building, report writing and client liaison;

· experience with database design and management, information interpretation and application, and in the development of decision support systems;

· strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential;

Field Ecologist
We require several field staff to assist in the collection of soils, vegetation and mensuration data.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

· knowledge in site description, plant species identification, soil classification, forest mensuration, and ecological classification;

· ability to use air photos and field maps for resource interpretation and navigation in remote areas;

· experience with using GPS units and PDAs;

· familiarity with forest inventory techniques and field equipment;

· experience with quads, sleds, and 4x4 pickups and flying in small aircraft;

· valid First Aid certificate & class 5 driver's license;

· ability to work alone or in small crews in remote situations for extended periods
